McCourt School of Public Policy

Former lead NASA speechwriter, Edward Goldstein is the current senior writer and editor at the Aerospace Industries Association, where he writes speeches, opinion pieces and position papers for AIA’s leadership and also edits AIA’s Executive Report. Goldstein has more than 20 years’ experience in the space community (NASA, Orbital Sciences and Rockwell International) and has served as a speechwriter to the Administrators of NASA, NOAA and the President of the Nature Conservancy. He was also a White House aide responsible for energy, environment and natural resources policy on the domestic policy staff of President George H.W. Bush. In that role, he was responsible for development of federal wetlands protection policy and the implementation of an agreement between the federal government and the Western Governors’ Association to utilize new technologies in the cleanup of contaminated federal facilities and sites. Goldstein is also an adjunct faculty member at American University, where he teaches in the Washington Semester program.
