Eddy Laveren is Professor of Financial Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Antwerp (Belgium). Since 2012 he is academic director of the Competence Center for Family Businesses at the Antwerp Management School. Since 2012 he is a board member of the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB). He is co-ordinator of the STEP (Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices) project for Belgium. He is member of the scientific committee of the RENT conference and leader of the general Family business track in the EURAM Conference. He teaches several entrepreneurial financial management courses.
His research can be situated in the field of financial management and performance of SMEs and family firms as well as the transfer of family businesses. He published 26 articles in national and international journals. He is author or editor of 7 books and 12 chapters in books. He is author of more than 70 congresproceedings and working papers. He is associate editor of the Journal of small business management and member of the editorial board of Family Business Review.
