Biography

Haas School of Business

In over 25 years of experience in the Silicon Valley technology industry, I've had the privilege to build 3 separate $1B+ businesses, lead teams of up to 10,000, and develop and scale hundreds of products for the enterprise, telecommunications, and small business markets.

My focus is on disruptive technologies such as VoIP, complex product transitions, mergers & acquisitions, scaling businesses from the startup phase to maturity, and transforming business models (I led WebEx, Cisco's first "as a service" cloud business, after the its acquisition in 2007).

Over the past 10 years, I have been an advisor to the White House, Congress, Defense and Civilian Agencies, the European Commission and Parliament, and organizations such as the World Economic Forum, the Council on Foreign Affairs, and Business Executives for National Security on technology policy and cybersecurity.

I am a board director for the Computer History Museum and the national Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Chair Emeritus of the Advisory Council for the Lawrence Hall of Science, and hold the CERT Certificate in Cyber Risk Oversight from the National Association of Corporate Directors.

I am passionate about working with companies, government agencies, and other organizations on technology policy, product strategy and positioning, execution excellence, cybersecurity, and approaches to innovation.
