King’s Business School

Dirk vom Lehn is Reader in Organisational Sociology and a member of Public Services Management & Organisation (PSMO). His research is primarily concerned with people’s experience of exhibits and exhibitions in museums and with occupational practice of optometrists. It draws on ethnomethodology and conversation analysis (EMCA) as well as on recent developments in the analysis of video-recordings.

Dirk currently works on a project titled “Citizen Heritage” funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and directed by Professor Hannah Lewi at the University of Melbourne. He also pursues an interest in the development of ethnomethodology and its relationship to phenomenology.

Dirk has published in international journals in sociology and marketing, including Sociology, Research on Language and Social Interaction, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, and the Journal of Marketing Management. He has recently published a book on Harold Garfinkel (Routledge) and a Special Issue on Phenomenology-based Ethnography in the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography.
