Coles College of Business
Dennis Chambers joined the faculty of the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University in August 2009. Dr. Chambers’ research interests include financial accounting and the capital market effects of accounting reporting and disclosure. His academic papers have dealt with a number of subject areas including the valuation of implied R&D assets and pricing bias caused by current R&D accounting, the role of risk in valuing expected earnings, the valuation of comprehensive income, the effect of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on the quality of reported earnings, and the effect of the provision of non-audit services on audit quality.
Dr. Chambers is the Director of the KSU Financial Reporting Roundtable. The Roundtable brings together financial reporting executives from the largest public corporations in Georgia for private, informal discussions of financial reporting topics.
Dr. Chambers was granted a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Westmont College, Santa Barbara, California in 1977. Professor Chambers then founded and ran his own real estate brokerage and property management business in Southern California for ten years. After selling his interest in the company, Professor Chambers earned an MBA from the University of California, Irvine and then completed a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. Professor Chambers has served on the faculties of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1996 to 2003 and the University of Kentucky from 2003 to 2009, before joining the faculty of Kennesaw State University.
