Deborah Schlossman

Dr. Deborah Schlossman, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, graduated from Tufts Medical School in 1988 with honors. After completing a medical internship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NY, she did her ophthalmology residency at the Georgetown Medical School Center for Sight where she served as Associate Chief Resident.

She then completed her fellowship in Diabetic Eye Disease/Medical Retina at the Beetham Eye Institute, Joslin Diabetes Center. Dr. Schlossman has been seeing patients full time at the Joslin Diabetes Center and performing cataract surgery since 1992. Her primary interests include diabetic eye disease, cataract surgery, and clinical teaching. She has been the offsite program director for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center primary care residents during their ophthalmology rotations since 1998.

Dr. Schlossman has been a co-investigator on multiple clinical trials including the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial, the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications Study, and continues to serve as a co-investigator in the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network studies.

Research Interests

Dr Schlossman is involved in multiple clinical studies, including the DCCT, EDIC, and DRCR network studies.
