Booth School of Business

David B. Pogrund is an experienced litigator, specializing in representing corporations and other business entities in employment, construction, and commercial litigation. His work on behalf of companies in defending employment discrimination cases has included successful litigation and arbitration outcomes before the EEOC, IDHR, and in the Federal District Court. At Booth, he teaches Employment Law for Entrepreneurs and Managers.

Pogrund is also a skilled business advisor who advises clients on entity formation; leases; contracts; how to hire, fire and discipline employees in compliance with State and Federal Discrimination Laws; shareholder disputes; real estate closings; business transactions; and construction law, including a substantial mechanic’s lien practice.

Pogrund’s clients have included general contractors, construction suppliers, construction sub-contractors and tradesmen, healthcare and nursing homes, distributors, property developers, banks, finance companies, retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, restaurants, remodelers, physicians, attorneys, architects, engineers, accountants and other service providers in every field of expertise.

Pogrund received his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1983 and completed his B.A. in history cum laude at Tulane University in 1981, where he was a member of the Tulane Scholar Program. He is a member of the Illinois and Federal Bar Association, a member of the Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, and has been admitted to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Also, he was recognized and awarded the designation as an Illinois Super Lawyer in 2007 in the field of Employment Litigation: Defense.

Pogrund regularly represents on a pro bono basis: The Ark, Chicagoland Jewish High School, Associated Talmud Torahs of Chicago, Camp Ramah of Wisconsin, Maot Chitim, and various other charitable organizations. He also serves as a trustee and board member on numerous trusts and business entities in the Chicagoland area.
