Professor David P. Myatt focuses his academic research on the tools of game theory (the scientific analysis of strategic decision-making) applied to diverse settings, including business strategy; macroeconomic coordination; and political science.
In addition to his role as Professor of Economics at London Business School, he is an Associate Member of Nuffield College, University of Oxford; an Associate Fellow of the Department of Economics, University of Warwick; and a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research. Prior to LBS, David held various academic positions within the University of Oxford – including Fellowships of St Catherine's College and Nuffield College.
His teaching has ranged across the full portfolio of London Business School programmes. He teaches core subjects of these programmes including: tools for output choice, pricing, and market segmentation – in markets where businesses seek to successfully exploit their market power – and the development of game theory tools for use in a variety of strategic decision-making situations.
Professor Myatt’s academic research papers have been published in the top economics and political science academic journals. He has been Editor of the Economic Journal for the Royal Economic Society and is currently Co-Editor of the Quarterly Journal of Political Science and Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Theory.
In his consulting activities, he has advised a broad variety of clients on competition policy, auction strategy, business organisation and various aspects of the regulatory environment.
