Dr. David E. Koch received his Bachelor's in Anthropology from the University of California (Berkeley), his MSW from Fordham University and his doctorate in Psychology (Social-Personality) from the Graduate Center of CUNY. His dissertation area centered on psychological resilience found among reentry adult college students.
Since 1998, he has served as a Clinical Associate Professor at Fordham University teaching Human Behavior in a Social Environment 1 and 2, Seminar in Clinical Social Work Practice, Clinical Social Work with LGBT individuals, and HIV/AIDS and Social Work. In addition, Dr.Koch has taught a doctoral class in Qualitative Methods. Dr. Koch served as the Field Coordinator of the BASW program from 1998-2001 and has served as the Director of the undergraduate Social Work major from 2001 to 2017. Over the last 15 years, he has been the Project Director of the Fordham-HASA (HIV/AIDS Service Administration) Training Academy. The academy provides ongoing training modules for case workers who work with those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Specific research interests include minority stress and its effect on coping mechanisms and social support resources and clinical social work practice with transgender individuals.
Dr. Koch has earned a certification in Psychoanalysis from the William Alanson White Institute in 2006 and has been a supervisor of psychotherapy at the White Institute since 2009.
