Boston University

David K. Jones is an Assistant Professor of Health Policy & Management at the Boston University School of Public Health. His research examines the political and policy issues surrounding the ACA’s implementation. He is working on a book about how states made decisions around whether or not to create health insurance exchanges.

He has also written about Medicaid, CHIP, and health reform in Europe. David is a part of multiple organizations focused on developing and disseminating research on the ACA, including the Scholars Strategy Network. He is also a co-founder of the ACA Scholar Practitioner Networkand an original field researcher in theACA Implementation Research Network run by the Rockefeller Institute of Government, the Fels Institute, and the Brookings Institution. He testified before the Michigan House Health Policy Committee during the state’s debate over a health insurance exchange and regularly speaks to clinicians and administrators at grand rounds, continuing medical education seminars, and medical society meetings.

Before graduate school, he worked in the Idaho Legislature, the Canadian House of Commons, and Congressman Charles Rangel’s District Office in Harlem, NY. He enjoys community service, including having being appointed by the Chapel Hill, NC Town Council to their Active Living by Design advisory board, serving on the board of directors for Community Action Southeast Ann Arbor Michigan, as a den leader in Cub Scouts, and a troop leader in Scouts Canada. David is originally from New York City, where he worked as a pretzel vendor at Yankee Stadium.
