David J. Hacin, FAIA is the founding Principal and President of Hacin + Associates. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, David received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University and his Masters of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. David founded H+A in Boston in 1993 after practicing architecture and urban design in a number of well-known firms in New York City and Boston. He currently serves on the Northeastern University School of Architecture Advisory Board and regularly serves as a guest critic at design schools across the country. David is active in civic and professional organizations, and he has served on numerous boards and juries in Boston and across the country. He is currently a member of the Boston Civic Design Commission, the City of Boston’s design review panel for significant projects that impact the public realm. David is also active in a number of charities and non-profit organizations focused on working to strengthen the connection of the arts to community. He has served as a Board Member and Chair of the Boston Center for the Arts, and recently served as the co-chair of DIGMA [Design Industry Groups of Massachusetts], a design initiative that seeks to raise the profile of design as an important economic sector of the regional economy.
In 2010, David was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. With 30 years of experience, he has been recognized for his public service and received numerous design awards for the firm’s work.
