HONG KONG (6 AUGUST 2020) The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has appointed David Faulkner as its new president for the Asia Pacific region. Faulkner, who was most recently managing director, valuation & advisory services at Colliers International in Hong Kong, joins with immediate effect and will lead the Institute’s activities across Asia Pacific. ULI, which has 45,000 members globally, has over 2,500 members in seven key Asia Pacific markets – Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Philippines, and South Korea.

David Faulkner, ULI Asia Pacific PresidentFaulkner will lead on the delivery of ULI Asia Pacific’s strategic plan, which targets growth in individual and corporate membership, increased member engagement with ULI’s activities and programs, and development of a significant presence in Mainland China. Faulkner will lead members and staff to deliver impact programs such as Advisory Services and UrbanPlan, as well as the region’s virtual and in-person events program including the REImagine virtual forum, the ULI Asia Pacific Convivium and the ULI Asia Pacific Summit in Tokyo in May 2021.

Faulkner is a Chartered Surveyor with over 40 years of experience in the real estate industry. He retired from his most recent position of managing director at Colliers International in December 2019, where he was responsible for the 250-person valuation and advisory services team in 14 markets. He has been based in Asia for over 35 years, joining Colliers International in 2003 after 15 years with Insignia Brooke. Faulkner has advised on projects in Hong Kong, China and many markets in the region including North Asia, the ASEAN countries, South and Central Asia. He has expertise in all the major sectors including residential, commercial, retail, industrial, hospitality and leisure. Faulkner has been a ULI member since 2001 and is currently a global governing trustee. Prior to joining the private sector in 1988, he spent 9 years with government, both in the UK and Hong Kong.
