Dan Egan, MD, is the third program director of the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Egan is a graduate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and then completed his emergency medicine residency at HAEMR where he was Chief Resident and graduated in 2006. He completed an Advanced Certificate in Adult Learning and Leadership for Medical Educators at Teachers College (Columbia University). Prior to coming back to Boston, Dr. Egan worked at several sites in NYC where he was involved in residency leadership as APD and PD and most recently a Vice Chair of Education. Outside of HAEMR, Dr. Egan serves on the Board of Directors for CORD (Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine) and is co-chair of the LGBTQIA+ Committee in the Academy for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Medicine in SAEM. He serves as a Decision Editor for Academic Emergency Medicine Education and Training. Dr. Egan is interested in all aspects of residency education and leading a program with academic and clinical rigor, attention to wellness and a supportive environment where residents can use their voices for advocacy and to promote change.
