Biography

Villanova University

Daniel Bartelson is a seasoned public sector and local government professional with nearly 20 years of experience leading local governments in complex, multijurisdictional projects, which gain inclusionary buy-in from multiple stakeholders leading to innovative community solutions. A 2014 graduate from Villanova’s MPA program, Daniel melds his professional experience with his “real world” practicality in teaching Financial Management, which complements the theories behind the course. He also has an MPP from the University of Southern California, an MBA from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor’s in Political Science from UCLA. Having worked in various capacities within city management for over 15-years with multiple municipalities, Daniel now leads a private consulting firm in their delivery of projects for states, counties, special districts and cities across the west. To date, Daniel has led his firm to the delivery of more than $2.2 billion in public and private grant funding to reshape and improve communities in need. These communities now benefit from regional active transportation solutions, bike share programs, expansion of light-rail and bus-rapid transit, freeway capacity improvements and expansion, non-motorized active transportation plans, new and expanded parks, storm water collection and treatment, housing and transit-oriented development, and public safety programs.

Daniel is married to his wife of 18 years, Lucy, and they have one eight-year-old son, Toby. On many weekends, you’ll often find them finding ways to explore the outdoors through camping and other adventures.
