Damien Piron

Assistant Professor in Public Finance Law chez Université catholique de Louvain

Biography

Damien holds a PhD in Political and Social Science from the University of Liège, Belgium (2018). Since September 2019, he has been an Assistant Professor in Public Finance Law (0,5 FTE) and a Post-Doctoral Researcher on Occupational Pensions (0,5 FTE) at the UCLouvain (Belgium). Regarding the latter, he is particularly interested in the political, institutional and fiscal determinants of occupational pension reforms and, more particularly, the mutually constitutive interactions between federalization, decentralization and pension financialization. His empirical work focuses on a situated case study: the early financialization of local public pensions in Belgium. Prior to joining Oxford University, Damien visited the London School of Economics and Political Science (Department of Accounting – CARR; Sept. 2016-March 2017) and the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in Paris (Jan.-March 2020; June-July 2021).
