Biography
University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business
Cynthia is an independent researcher, PhD candidate, writer, lecturer and course convener, currently affiliated with the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the UCT Graduate School of Business. Her research focuses on "systems work", or how organisations create positive social change through fostering connection, embracing context and reconfiguring power to ensure that systems work better for all people, regardless of income or background. She also works with foundations and NGOs on research-oriented projects to help them understand their work better and communicate that work to partners, funders and policymakers. As a recovering corporate management consultant, Cynthia worked in the non-profit sector for over a decade, primarily for organisations focused on global health and youth development, including the Starfish Greathearts Foundation, mothers2mothers and Generation Ubuntu.
