Biography

UW Professional & Continuing Education

Since 2016, the MS Tax program has been fortunate to have Izzy Weber as our faculty Director, and as of fall 2018, we have added another amazing asset, Crystal Finkelstein. Izzy and Crystal now work together to continually update our curriculum, hire the best faculty, and offer the kind of outstanding instruction that puts Foster’s MST program in a league of its own.

After completing both a BA in Accounting and the Master of Professional Accounting in Tax at the UW, Crystal went on to work for PwC in Seattle. She was quickly promoted to Tax Partner where she focused on the Asset Management practice with an emphasis on alternative investment products. As a Partner, Crystal provided tax compliance and consulting services to her clients which included hedge funds, venture capital funds, private equity funds, and fund of funds in Seattle, San Francisco, Southern California, and New York.

Besides Co-Directing the MST program and being a mom of two young children, Crystal teaches Tax Effects of Business Decisions and Business Taxation at the Undergraduate level, and Tax Issues – Property, Corporations I, and Conduits I & II in the Masters of Science in Taxation program. Those who have had the opportunity to be a student of Crystal Finkelstein will agree that her knowledge, experience, passion for tax, and love of teaching, all combine to make her one of the crowning jewels at the Foster School of Business.

Our other esteemed Co-Director, Izzy Weber, is away for the winter, taking an intensive (nine weeks, 10 hours a day) course in computer programming. No doubt, the relevant knowledge that Izzy brings home will soon be making its way into MST courses.
