Hertie School of Governance
Claudia Kemfert is Professor of Energy Economics and Sustainability at the Hertie School of Governance and is head of Energy, Transportation, Environment at the German Institute of Economic Research (DIW). Her research focuses on climate and energy policy. From 2004 until 2009 she was Professor for Environmental Economics at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Kemfert is member of the High-Level Expert Group of the EU Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability and of the Advisory Group on Energy for the European Commission (DG Research) and is a member of the Club of Rome. Kemfert has advised the EU’s High-level Group on Energy and Climate and the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC). She studied economics at Oldenburg University, University of Bielefeld and Stanford University.
