Ivey Business School
Vitae: Studies of Economics at the University of Bonn (Dipl. Vw. 1963). From 1963 to 1966, Research Assistant at the University of Bonn and completion of doctorate at the chair of Prof. Dr. H. Albach. Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA from 1966 to 1967.
Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Business, University of Wisconsin (1967-1969) and at the IVEY School of Business Administration, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada (1969-1971). Following this, Associate Professor (until 1975) and Full Professor (from 1975 to 1995). Also Director of the Ph.D.-program. Since 1995 Full Professor of Business Administration, particularly Production Management, at the Department of Production, Business Informatics and Operation Research at the Free University Berlin. Visiting Professor at Sloan School of Management, MIT, Boston (1975-1978), the University of Heidelberg (1992-1993) and the University of St. Gallen (1993).
Author/co-author of 10 monographs, more than 75 professional articles in international journals, and over 40 case studies that were partly published in textbooks. Co-editor of “Gabler Edition Wissenschaft Produktion und Logistik” as well as a member of the editorial boards of several journals. More than 120 lectures and guest lectures.
Alongside tasks of teaching, research and administration, he has accomplished a wide range of practical projects and drawn up numerous expertises for scientific and practical purposes.
Research interests: Supply Chain Management, Operational Research/Planning Problems in Goods and Service Production, Management Fads, E-based Learning.
