Raised by a long line of hard-working Texans, Chris worked her way through school while attending NYU. Today, she directs her 16 years of leadership experience in publishing, fashion and television towards a new goal: providing individuals with greater access to financial literacy and opportunities to work and save. Chris founded and launched Credit Do, an asset-building social business with a mission to deliver the first debt-free generation. Credit Do's first Smarter Barter™ piloted in the fall of 2010, secured 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status the spring of 2012, and that fall piloted in the N.Y. Public School System. Credit Do has successfully run (7) middle school programs that have benefitted each part of Manhattan’s Lower East Side community. Of the participating (252) students, all have received 7-10 hours of financial education, (189) students have worked (1,135) hours running a food drive, collecting over 15,513 pounds of food for local food banks, earning $9,450 in credit to their local grocery store, generating over $29,925 in food sales. Further, (193) students have collectively saved $11,080 towards their financial futures. Credit Do programs are rooted in the belief that credit is not only a measure of someone’s financial worth, but more importantly, it is based on one’s merit and their ability to contribute positively to the community at large. Chris has received certification from the Stanford Graduate Business School's Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship and holds a B.A. from New York University's College of Arts and Science.
