Biography

Dr. Chew Kok Wai is an Associate Professor, Faculty of Management, Multimedia University, Malaysia. He is currently a Senate Cluster Representative for the Management/Business/Social Sciences Cluster, Multimedia University. He is also the Ambassador for Malaysia, Academy of Management Human Resources Division. He was an Associate and Visiting Scholar, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Visiting Scholar, Chonnam National University, Korea; Visiting Research Scholar, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, India; Visiting Research Fellow, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Malaysia, and Lecturer, Monash University Malaysia. He is also a Human Resource Development Fund, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia Certified Trainer, a nominee for Excellent Teaching Award, Multimedia University and a module review committee member for Certified Officer in Quality Assurance of Higher Education Programme - Tier 1, Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

He has more than 110 research publications and conference presentations. His current research interests are in human resource management and organisational behavior. He is currently the leader for a research project entitled “Digital Disruption in Industry 4.0: A Framework for Upskilling and Reskilling of Malaysian Manufacturing SMEs B40 and M40 Employees”, funded by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. He is also a member for university-industry R&D alliances and mindfulness research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

As project leader, he has completed two e-commerce research projects funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia and a leadership research project funded by Multimedia University Foundation. As project member, he has completed two e-commerce research projects funded by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Indonesia; two human resource management, an innovative capability, a workplace deviant behavior, a Malaysian aged-friendly community index, an Internet use, addiction and job productivity, a Malaysian creative cultural industry, and an entrepreneurship research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. 8 PhD, 1 DBA, 7 M. Phil, and 33 MBA Final Project students have graduated under his supervision. He is currently supervising 1 PhD, 2 DBA, 3 M. Phil, 1 MBA and 1 EMBA Final Project students.

He is an external examiner for Doctor of Management dissertations from University of Malaya and postgraduate theses from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Among the administrative positions that he held in Multimedia University were Deputy Director of Research Management Centre, Deputy Dean of Institute for Postgraduate Studies, Head of Management and Marketing Department, Chairman of Centre for Knowledge and Innovation Management, and Centre for Multimedia Technology Management, Program Coordinator for Bachelor of Business Administration (Management with Multimedia) and Bachelor of Electronic Business. Prior to joining Multimedia University, he has worked for a Unilever plantation company as Estate Manager and Research Manager.
