BIOGRAPHY

Chee Yuen is currently the Group Chief Information Officer for Surbana Jurong Pte Ltd (SJ). He is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of IT, including an enterprise digital data lake platform, for the SJ Group, which has global business activities on urban, infrastructure and township planning and development, and managed services.

Prior to SJ, he was an Advisor and Consultant to ST Electronics Info-Comm Pte Ltd, on training and marketing opportunities on mobile digital solution.

He was formerly the Executive Vice President, Technology and Shared Services for Resorts World Sentosa. For the technology portfolio, he oversaw a team to provide and support a comprehensive range of IT services (including IT system design and development, project consultancy, IT services and cybersecurity management) related to the gaming and resort industry. In addition, he has oversight responsibility for Enterprise Risk and Compliance, Legal, Procurement and Security. He was concurrently appointed a Board Director of Resorts World Sentosa.

Chee Yuen was conferred the IT Leader of the Year 2013 by the Singapore Computer Society, and was recognized as one of the Most Outstanding Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in the ASEAN region by the International Data Group (IDG) in 2010.

Under his leadership, RWS won the National Infocomm Award in 2010 under the Private Sector category for the Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology, the second time he won the award for organization he served. In 2004, he led his previous company JTC as CIO to win the same Award under the Public Sector.

In 2013, the Ministry of Communication & Information (MCI) appointed Chee Yuen as a member of the Infocomm Media Masterplan 2025 Steering Committee, and the Chair for the Technology and R&D Roadmap working committee. He was appointed in 2018 by IMDA as the Co-Chair for the Services Digital Economy Technology Roadmap Technical Committee. He was appointed by SPRING as the Chairman for the National IT Standards Council (ITSC) 2011-2020; by WDA as the Chair for the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) Adoption Committee, and by IMDA as a member of the National Cloud Computing Advisory Council. He is the current chairman for the National Gallery IT Digital Advisory Panel.

In the academia community, he is appointed in 2018 and currently serves as the Chairman for the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing Industry Advisory Committee. He was also a member of the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Computing and Information Systems Board of Advisors, and the Republic Polytechnic School of IT Advisory Committee. He was an adjunct instructor in the NUS School of Computing for the Master of Technology in IT Leadership program.

A conferred Fellow of the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), Chee Yuen was the Vice President in the Executive Council of SCS and was a member of the SCS Board of Assessors for the Certification in IT Project Management (CITPM). He was the President of the IT Management Association (ITMA).

Chee Yuen graduated from the NUS with a First Class Honors Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He obtained a Master in Business Administration from NUS and was recognized for his academic excellence with the Tan Kah Kee scholarship. He completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in France and the e-Government program at Harvard University.
