Charlie Martin

Charlie is a racing driver with a story like no other, a trailblazer in the testosterone fuelled world of professional motorsport, she has overcome incredible adversity to become her authentic self. Starting in a Peugeot 205, she progressed single handed through the ranks of Formula Renault, GT’s & prototypes which she raced at Le Mans in 2017 (Bugatti circuit), finishing 3rd in her first ever endurance race! Charlie’s story is completely unique, having transitioned mid way through her career and come out officially on March 2018 for Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV), she is a diversity role model and inspiring figure in motorsport. She achieved international press coverage for her Pride initiative at Silverstone in June, where she invited all the teams racing in the British GT Championship & support races to run Pride stickers on their cars. In recognition she received the 2018 Motorsport Award for the Best Marketing Campaign & Downforce People’s Champion Award (previously awarded to Billy Monger in 2017). She has a huge following within the LGBT community as a YouTube vlogger (2M views), where she has helped 1,000’s of people by recording her own transition for the world to see. In 2016 she was invited to 10 Downing Street to meet David Cameron for the International Day Against Homophobia, and participates in media events, TV interviews & national campaigns such as the TDOV initiative by Stonewall. In 2018 she has featured on Sky Sports, BBC Sport, BBC News, BBC3, Channel 4, ITV Sport, GMB, CNN, ESPN, MSN, Jalopnik, Huff Post, Autosport, Motorsport Magazine & many more.
