Background
Birsel Tavukcu Pirim joined the Finance department at Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, in 2012. Before coming to OSU, she taught at Yeditepe University from 2010 to 2012 and at University of Illinois, UrbanaChampaign from 20072010, and University of Mississippi from 2000 to 2006. She has taught courses in Investments, Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions, Options and Futures, and Derivatives during her career, and currently teaches Options and Futures I & II to undergraduate and Derivatives II to graduate programs at OSU. Her primary area of research examines financial markets and the trading of securities commonly referred to as market microstructure research.

BUSFIN 3220 Business Finance
Introductory finance class which allows students develop the skills to understand how financial managers make valuemaximizing decisions for their firms. Prereq: Econ 2001.01 (200), and 2002.01 (201), and AcctMIS 2200 (211). Prereq or concur: AcctMIS 2300. Not open to students with credit for 620, or to students enrolled in UUSS, UExp or PreBSBAPR.
BUSFIN 4230 Options & Futures I
Development of the basic skills to value options, futures, and related derivatives with applications to derivativebased investments such as incentive stock options. Prereq or concur: 4210 (721), 4220 (722), and BusMHR 2291 (BusAdm 499.01). Not open to students with credit for 723.
BUSFIN 4232 Options & Futures II
How to value options and optionbased derivatives using the BlackScholes pricing model, plus selected areas of financial engineering and strategies using exotic options. Prereq: 4201, 4211 (721), 4221 (722), 4230 (723), 4250, 4260 (726), and BusMHR 2292 (BusAdm 499.01). Not open to students with credit for 723.
BUSFIN 7232 Derivatives Valuation and Application
Advanced derivatives course covering the BlackScholes valuation model with applications to financial instruments and other areas of financial engineering. Prereq: MBA 6223; or prereq or concur: BusFin 7210, 7220, or 7230. Not open to students with credit for 823.
BUSFIN 4229 Advanced Investments
This course explores the valuation of forwards, options, forwardbased, and optionbased financial instruments. While a student may have studied options and/or forwards in other courses, this course examines in detail the analytical methods used to price these securities, and the analytical analysis of arbitrage, hedging, and speculation using these securities. Prereq: 4211, 4221, and BusMHR 2291 or 2292. Not open to students with credit for or currently enrolled in 4219 or 4239.
