Bill Lennertz

William Lennertz, AIA, of the National Charrette Institute (NCI) at the Michigan State University School of Planning, Design, and Construction, is the lead trainer at NCI. Mr. Lennertz co-founded NCI to help people create healthy communities by researching and teaching the art and science of NCI Dynamic Planning. Starting in 1986 as director of the Boston office of Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, and later as a partner with Lennertz Coyle & Associates, Mr. Lennertz has directed over 150 charrettes nationally for public and private clients ranging from main-street revitalizations, town centers, and affordable housing, to complete new neighborhoods and communities. He is co-author of, and essayist in, Towns and Town-Making Principles (Rizzoli, 1991), and a contributor to the Charter of the New Urbanism. He has trained top staff from various public and private organizations including the U.S. EPA, U.S. General Services Administration, HDR Inc., URS Corporation, and Glatting Jackson. He received his Master of Architecture in urban design from Harvard University.
