Biography

Jean-Pierre Bertrel is Professor of Commercial Law in the Department of Economics, Law and Social Sciences at ESCP Europe Paris campus and is course director of the option entitled " LAW & FINANCE - Financial  Engineering" .

He holds a Doctorate of Law (1981) as well as the Qualification for Supervising Research in Law (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches), is a former member of the Paris Bar and International Consultant and is now the President of the "European Institute of Mergers and Acquisitions" and of the "Association des Professeurs de Droit des Grandes  Ecoles" ("Association Française Droit & Management"). Jean-Pierre Bertrel is a recognised expert in commercial law, particularly in the sphere of Financial Engineering (Mergers, Acquisitions and Transfers) of Entrepreneurial Engineering (creation and transfer of companies) and Asset Engineering (optimizing the value of assets of company owners).  In these three spheres, his publications are all underpinned by a new approach to the law, of which he is one of the founders in Europe, that of " Legal Engineering".

Jean-Pierre Bertrel is founder of the Revue de Droit Bancaire et Financier (Banking and Financial Law Review), is an adviser of Droit & - Patrimoin_e review (_Law and Assets Journal), joint academic director of " - Lamy Assets" - . He is also the author of more than a hundred published articles and standard texts (notably " - Company Law" - published by Editions Lamy, " - Mergers and Acquisitions of Commercial Companies" - published by Editions Litec, " - Financial Engineering Law" - published by Editions Litec, etc).
