Benjamin Wilner is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations. He is a former Big Ten finance and statistics professor who regularly serves as a consultant and testifying expert witness on damages, economic and statistical issues. Dr. Wilner's disputes expertise encompasses many industries and a broad range of single plaintiff, class action and criminal disputes, including antitrust liability and damages, business interruption, business valuations, economic analyses, intellectual property, labor (disparate impact, wage and hour and wrongful termination), medical malpractice / personal injury / wrongful death, product liability, statistical data analyses and other corporate and litigation related matters.

Dr. Wilner’s consulting expertise includes advising corporations and governments on economic and statistical issues. Notable assignments include re-designing statistical aspects of an automobile manufacturer's warranty process and building an economic model to restructure a $2.5 billion tariff, for which he received a special commendation from the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and won praise by a Cabinet member and Congressional officials.

Dr. Wilner’s modelling skills were honed working with three Nobel Prize-winning economists. He also utilizes his award-winning academic teaching experience to explain these models to clients, judges, juries and attorneys.

Prior to joining A&M, Dr. Wilner worked at other multinational consulting firms. He has been a professor in the business schools at Northwestern University, the University of Michigan, the University of Iowa and the Helsinki School of Economics. His work has been published in leading academic journals and textbooks, and is regularly cited in the academic and popular press. Dr. Wilner has won several awards for teaching and research, including a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Wilner earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude with distinction in major in economics and mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, a general course degree in mathematics and statistics from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in managerial economics and decision science from Northwestern University.
