Biography

Benjamin Markham, LEED AP, is the director of architectural acoustics and a principal consultant at Acentech, a nationwide acoustics consulting practice, where he leads a group of 30 acoustics consultants who advise architects and other clients on room acoustics design, sound isolation, and noise and vibration control. He has advised on the design of more than 1,500 buildings, including projects related to performing arts, education, multifamily, and mixed-use development. He has a particular interest in the role of computational acoustics modeling and simulation in design practice and has published and lectured widely on topics including acoustics and sustainable design, multifamily housing, and worship space design. Markham is a regular visiting lecturer at Harvard GSD, AAP, and the School of Architecture and Planning at MIT. He holds a B.S.E. from Princeton University and an M.S. from Rensselaer.
