Ben Lansford

Benjamin Lansford is professor in the practice of accounting and director of the new Master of Accounting (MAcc) program at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University. He joined the Rice faculty in 2014 and teaches financial accounting and financial statement analysis in the MBA programs. He also teaches issues in financial reporting I to undergraduates.

Before coming to Rice, Ben served on the faculty of The Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. At Penn State, he was assistant clinical professor of accounting and director of their five-year integrated undergraduate-graduate Master of Accounting program. Ben taught managerial accounting to undergraduates and financial accounting in Smeal''s Executive MBA Program. At Northwestern, he served as assistant professor of accounting and taught financial accounting in their full-time and evening MBA programs.

Ben earned his Ph.D. in business administration at Penn State in 2005. He also earned an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in international studies from the University of South Carolina. Before earning his doctorate, he worked in financial accounting for a subsidiary of Fluor Corporation, a multinational engineering and construction company.
