Biography

Rotman School of Management

Barbara Zvan works for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan as Senior Vice-President, Asset Mix and Risk and is also the plan’s Chief Investment Risk Officer. Barbara and her team of investment professionals oversee the development of the fund’s long-term investment strategy based on the economic outlooks, asset and liability matching, and risk analysis. She assists both the Executive Team and the Board of Directors with the management, measurement and reporting of investment risk for the fund through her role as Chief Investment Risk Officer, membership on the Executive Team and participation in the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.

Barbara also works in partnership with the Province of Ontario and the Ontario Teachers’ Federation on issues surrounding pension funding. Barbara joined Teachers’ in 1995 as Assistant Portfolio Manager and rose steadily through the ranks to her current position on the Executive Team.

She is a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and is also a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. Barbara serves as a Director of Rotman’s International Centre of Pension Management (ICPM) and holds a Master of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
