Biography

Argyro Avgoustaki is an Assistant Professor of Management at ESCP Europe where she has been teaching graduate courses in Human Resource Management and Research Methods since 2013. She has been a visiting researcher at the Department of Management Science at Lancaster University Management School and prior to joining ESCP Europe, she was a visiting researcher at the department of Innovation and Organizational Economics at Copenhagen Business School.

 

She holds a Ph.D degree in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a Master degree in Business Economics and Management from M.A.I.Ch. All with distinction. In 2014-2015 she attended the Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning, HBS Executive Education at Harvard Business School.

 

As far as research is concerned, she is mainly interested in human resource management. Some of the topics she has researched are the impact of on-the-job training on firm productivity and the role of high performance work practices such as job rotation and discretion mechanisms in employee overtime. She has published in Industrial and Labour Relations Review.

 

She acts as a reviewer for academic journals related to human resource management and employment studies as well as she is one of the organizers of the London HR & OB group, which represents a network of female scholars interested in the area of (international) human resource management and organizational behaviour. She is also a member of the Academy of Management Society, EGOS, and the Strategic Management Society and she has participated in a number of Spanish and Greek national projects. Currently, she is the academic director of the Master in European Business (MEB) and the MBA in International Management.
