Biography
Arthur Wilkinson is a Senior Lecturer in Polymer & Composites Processing in the School of Materials. His research interests involve the science and technology underpinning processing-structure-property relationships in multi-phase polymer systems; including multicomponent fibres, nanocomposites, blends, block copolymers and structural fibre-composites. With the launch of the Northwest Composites Centre (NWCC),www.materials.manchester.ac.uk/our-research/research-centres/nwcc/, and the National Composites Certification and Evaluation Facility (NCCEF), www.nccef.manchester.ac.uk/ , he has significantly expanded his studies of advanced polymer composites and functional polymer fibres. Dr Wilkinson graduated in Polymer Science & Technology (Physics) from UMIST in 1984 and obtained his PhD, also from UMIST, in 1990. He then spent two years conducting Polyurethanes Research and Development for Dow Chemicals (Europe), before joining Manchester Metropolitan University as a Lecturer in Polymer Science & Technology. He joined the University of Manchester in 2006.
