International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans

Mr. Babcock is a senior vice president with Aon in Calgary, Alberta. As a member of the health and benefits practice, he is responsible for the effective maintenance of current client programs and the development of new business within his area of expertise. Mr. Babcock’s primary focus areas include the design, marketing, implementation and administration of group employee benefit programs. His experience also extends to cost-containment strategies, income replacement plan audits, employee assistance plan development and management, defined contribution pension plans and group RRSPs. Mr. Babcock consults primarily to large public and private sector clients. Among his clients are association groups, educational institutions, municipalities, construction and primary resource employers. Work assignments have included group benefits marketing; sick leave/long-term disability and employee assistance plan audits; and flexible benefits plan design/implementation, benchmarking and cost-containment plan design. Nationally, Mr. Babcock is the Aon training and development team leader. Prior to joining Aon, he was the manager of group insurance and pensions for a major life insurance company. Mr. Babcock has been in the insurance industry since 1975, with 35 years specializing in the group benefits area. He is a member of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists and the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute and serves on the Sanofi Canada Health Survey Advisory Board. Mr. Babcock has instructed benefit courses at the University of Alberta for 27 years. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario and the University of Windsor, he holds degrees in psychology, commerce and business administration (M.B.A.). Industry education includes the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation, the Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) designation and the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) certificate in group life and health insurance.
