Arnold Smit

Prof Arnold Smit holds an MPhil in Business Ethics and a Doctorate in Theology from Stellenbosch University. As an extraordinary associate professor at Stellenbosch Business School, he teaches responsible leadership and business in society modules. His core interest is in the integration of ethics, responsibility and sustainability in management education, leadership development and organisational practices. His writing includes work on responsible leadership, corporate sustainability and responsibility, multi-stakeholder process facilitation and spirituality.

Prof Smit also facilitates executive development programmes in the areas of values-driven leadership, sustainability management, governance and ethics, and director development. When consulting he facilitates organisational values integration and strategy development processes.

Apart from being the owner and director of WisePraxis (Pty) Ltd, he is a non-executive director of The Ethics Institute, a trustee of SEED Educational Trust and a member of the advisory board of the Business Ethics Network of Africa. In his earlier career, he was a parish minister, a management consultant, and the head of human resources of a financial services company.
