Biography

UCL School of Management

Dr. Castro holds a Ph.D. in Management from Imperial College London and was a visiting Ph.D. student at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. He also holds a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from the London School of Economics(LSE) and a bachelor’s degree in economics (cum laude) from the University of Trento. From 2017 to January 2019 he pursued his postdoctoral research as an LSE Fellow at the Department of Management at the London School of Economics. He has also been a research affiliate at the Cambridge Centre of Alternative Finance, Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.

Prior to his academic career, he had business experience as a consultant specialised in investments in Brazil, particularly in infrastructure and public-private partnerships. Additionally, he has had experience in the Brazilian financial market and has provided advisory services to the Brazilian and Italian governments.

Research summary

Dr. Armando Castro's research is interdisciplinary, spanning across the fields of Management (Organisation Theory) to Economics and Sociology. More specifically, his research interests are in business ethics, business strategy, sustainability, corporate corruption, new venture finance and O&G Megaprojects. He has been the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator of projects funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund(HEIF), British Academy(BA), Project Management Institute(PMI) and the Association of Project Management(APM). His work on corruption was published at the Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management Inquiry and in book chapters. He has presented his work at international conferences such as the Academy of Management Annual Meetings, European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) Colloquium, and Strategic Management Society Annual Conference.
