Dr. McGowan teaches and does research primarily in the area of cost accounting. Her primary research focus concerns the behavorial consequences of cost management system design and implementation. She has published articles concerning the behavorial benefits of cost management system adoption in The Journal of Management Accounting Research, The Accounting Review and Accounting Horizons.
