Singapore Management University

1988, PhD, Fulbright scholar, in International Finance, Stern School of Business, New York University. With Singapore Management University (SMU): previous portfolios include positions as Associate Dean, Lee Kong Chian School of Business and Dean, Office of Executive & Professional Education; currently, V3 Group Professor of Family Entrepreneurship, Vice-President Business Development; Finance Professor (Practice); Academic Director, Business Families Institute and International Trading Institute. Former Member of the Board: K1 Ventures. Member of the Board: Prudential Assurance Company Singapore; Family Firm Institute. Chair: Finance and Investment Committee, GovTech Singapore Board; Asian Bond Fund 2 Supervisory Committee, Monetary Authority of Singapore. Member of the Board: Singapore’s Central Provident Fund, serving on the SkillsFuture HR Sectoral Tripartite Committee, HR Certification Taskforce. Lead Independent Director, Health Management International. Conference speaker, panel moderator and commentator. Advises start-up firms such as Stashaway and Staff-on-Demand. Research interests are in family office and family business, investor behaviour, alternate investments and enterprise risk management. Recipient: Singapore Public Administration Medal, Bronze (2010), Silver (2016), and the Adult Education Prism Award (2017) for contributions to the education and public sectors.
