Professor Annette Seegers: A South African citizen. Educated in South Africa but PhD, courtesy of a Fullbright Scholarship, from Loyola University of Chicago. Since 1986 member of Political Studies Department of the University of Cape Town. Became a professor in 1998 and deliver inaugural address in May 2001 on "War and Regime Change in Southern Africa"..
Was a fellow of the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars, Washington DC, in 1990-1991. Has been a Visiting Professor Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs and Department of Politics, Princeton University, USA since 1999.
Numerous publications but best known is The Military and the Making of Modern South Africa (London: I B Tauris, 1996)
Various forms of public service but especially: (a) Drafter of chapter 11 of SA Constitution (on Police, Military, Prisons and Intelligence); (b) Advisor to the Head of the Research Division, Truth and Reconciliation Commission, South Africa, 1996-1998; (c) Multi-Party Negotiation Process in 1993; (d) Independent Electoral Commission, 1993-1994; and (e) Ministry of Defence, South Africa, Ministerial Task Force on Civic Education, 1994-;
