Annelie Karlsson

Annelie is the executive director and founding member of Family Business Network Sweden. She has been a member of the Family Business Network International since 1993, serving in various positions such as a member of the Executive Committee of FBN International. She is also the moderator/key faculty at the yearly FBN India, CII Family Business Convention.

Annelie has a broad international experience as a facilitator or advisor to international, multi generational and complex owner families. Her consulting practice primarily focuses on owner and corporate strategy, corporate and family governance, succession and education programs for the next generation. She works with families in Europe, USA, Asia and the Middle East, serving large conglomerates in various industries. The owner families vary from a few members up to more than 600 family members.

Annelie Karlsson earned her doctorate at Stockholm School of Economics in 2000. Her dissertation focused on multi generational families in business and the strategies for reproducing family and business across generations. She has held a position as professor in family business and management at IMD in Lausanne Switzerland, teaching both in open programs, the MBA program and tailor made programs for families and key executives. She has also been active in Eastern Europe, as part of the inaugural faculty at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga in 1995.

Annelie has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University in the USA as well as invited as a speaker to business schools such as INSEAD (France) and Loyola University (USA) and the Swedish School of Business Administration in Helsinki, Finland. She has been a faculty member at the FBNed Education programs in Holland, both for owner families and non-family key executives.

Her hobbies are health and physical activities such as running, skiing, cross-fit and travelling. Family life is important as she is living the life of a modern family, with her husband and their children. Her daughter and son (age 18 and 16) live with her and her husband two weeks at a time, in the archipelago of Stockholm. In order to be closer to her husband's daughter, they also spend time in their second home in Helsingborg, Sweden. Her husband's son, based in Sydney, offers them the possibility of travel to Australia yearly.
