Biography

ESADE Business School

Anna Bayona is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting at ESADE. She holds a Ph.D. from IESE Business School (Barcelona, Spain) and a B.A. in Mathematics and M.Phil. in Economics, both from the University of Cambridge (UK). She has been awarded several scholarships based on merit, including the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship.

Her current research focuses on the role of incomplete information in markets. The main objective of her research is to understand how individuals use information in market contexts, both theoretically and experimentally. In so doing, she hopes to bridge the gap between theoretical models and experimental research. She has conducted research on the relationship between transparency and welfare, on the strategic behaviour in markets where traders compete in supply functions, and on the interaction of sophisticated and naïve traders. Her research has implications for the design of more efficient and effective markets.

Anna presents in conferences such as the Econometric Society World Congress, the Annual Congress of the European Economic Association, the conference of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory, the Finance Forum, the Royal Economic Society Conference, the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research, among others. She has given various seminars, including at Carlos III, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, and the University of Amsterdam, among others. She has published her work at Games and Economic Behavior, Economic Theory, Economics Letters, and the Routledge Handbook of Behavioral Economics.

Anna has several years of professional experience in strategic management consulting and banking, both in Spain and in the UK. She has worked on projects related to the Basel regulatory frameworks, portfolio management and financial information systems.
