Biography:
Mr. Tin enjoyed a diverse career including stints in IT and investment, until he found his true passion in branding. Since his debut as a marketer at P&G, he has taken on various senior management assignments with Estee Lauder, Jala Group (China’s largest cosmetics company), L’Oreal and Pola Orbis (a leading Japanese cosmetics company). He is now an independent advisor helping Japanese companies to brand and export products globally. His clients range from Japanese farmers to Tokyo Stock Exchange listed corporations, spanning a range of industries including food and beverage, cosmetics, contents, jewelry and real estate. The two key areas that he adds value to are branding and globalization.
With roughly one third each of his lifetime divided among China, Japan and the US, Mr. Tin is well versed at the fine differences across various cultures, and this helps him to build in-depth insight of consumers around the world. A native Chinese educated in the US, Mr. Tin first came to Japan in 1996 and is a fluent speaker and writer of Japanese. He travels extensively throughout Japan, appreciates the beauty of Japanese products and craftsmanship, and sincerely believes that branding can help Japan achieve success globally.
