Andromachi Athanasopoulou

Dr Andromachi Athanasopoulou is Associate Professor in Organisational Behaviour in the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London.

Andromachi was previously a research fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, Harvard University and, before that, a junior research fellow at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford.

Andromachi has expertise in qualitative research on leadership and leadership development as well as business ethics and corporate social responsibility. She has published book chapters, several articles in leading peer-reviewed journals and a book with Oxford University Press.

She sits on the editorial review board of the Academy of Management Learning & Education and the Journal of Change Management. Andromachi has received several scholarships, grants and awards, including awards from the Academy of Management and the British Academy of Management. She has extensive teaching experience at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education levels and she is a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

Andromachi holds an MBA, MSc in Management Research and DPhil in Management Studies, all from Saïd Business School. She also holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to her postgraduate studies and academic career, Andromachi worked in banking.

Andromachi is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Research * Andromachi explores how leaders’ behaviour affects and is affected by the social context within which they operate, with emphasis on:

personal leadership development, with a focus on top management career trajectories, executive coaching, gender and leadership ethical/responsible leadership, particularly corporate social responsibility and ethical dilemmas in work contexts. * Her research has been presented at the World Economic Forum and published in leading academic journals such as The Leadership Quarterly, Human Resource Management, Business & Society and the Harvard Business Review. Andromachi’s work is regularly cited in global media such as CNN, BBC World, the Financial Times and Forbes.

Teaching * Andromachi has regularly contributed to Saïd Business School’s Executive Education programmes, including Women Transforming Leadership. She had also previously worked on the Oxford Scenarios Programme. Andromachi has extensive experience teaching in various areas of organisational behaviour and management at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education levels. She is a PhD supervisor in areas of sustainability and management education at Queen Mary University of London.
