Biography

University of Cape Town

I am an Associate Professor in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town.

I teach masters/PhD microeconometrics and labour economics courses, an Honours course in the analysis of household survey data, and am the convenor for the Post Graduate Diploma in Survey Data Analysis for Development.

From 2011 until June 2020 I was employed by DataFirst at UCT, with which I am still associated.

I hold DPhil and MPhil degrees in Economics from the University of Oxford, as well as a BCom (Hons) and BSc from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

I have worked as a short term consultant for the World Bank (2009, 2011, 2017-2019) and have experience in running firm and household surveys in Ghana (2013) and Tanzania (2008).

I am the founder and co-owner of TaxiMap- a website to help people to get around on minibus taxis.
