Operating executive and private equity professional with over 30 years of experience as a founder, executive or investor in private companies. Experienced in business operations, private equity and credit funds, SBIC fund formation/management, valuation, structured finance, M&A, corporate strategy, sales/marketing, business development, digital asset/IP management and regulatory affairs. Began career as a journalist and founded several companies, including a small independent business information company, a media/trade show division of The Washington Post Company, and a small business investment company (SBIC) fund. Have experience as public company executive and have held numerous private company and association board memberships.

Seeking new acquisition opportunities, board roles and advisory assignments in the following industry sectors: software, internet, information, healthcare IT, business services and government services -- with a focus on small and lower middle market companies. Consulting assignments include: C-level training program development; small company CEO mentoring; positioning operating companies for capital formation; understanding the landscape of financing options (ABLs, leveraged senior and mezzanine loans, ESOPs); SBIC fund formation/licensing; outsourced Corporate Development/Strategy function; new business market assessments; product line profitability measurement; and organic and acquisition-based growth (including "make vs. buy" decisions).
