Biography

Andrea completed her PhD with distinction in 2008 from the School of Economics and Business at the University of Oviedo in Spain. During her PhD she was a visiting student at the Wharton School in the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2008 she works in the Management Department at the University of Oviedo. From 2012 to 2019 she held the position of Academic Secretary of the University of Oviedo Business School IUDE, in which she co-leaded the Executive MBA program. Her research is mainly focused on internationalization and cooperation strategies on R&D, especially on international R&D outsourcing practices by technological firms and how these firms can benefit from outsourcing. Her research received several distinctions, such as the "Best Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Award"​ at 2008 Academy of International Business Meeting, "Premio Enrique Fuentes Quintana"​ awarded by FUNCAS, and finalist for the "Barry M. Richman Best Dissertation Award"​ of the International Management Division at the 2009 Academy of Management meeting. In addition, she was awarded a John H. Dunning Visiting Fellowship in 2012 hosted by the John H. Dunning Centre for International Business at the Henley Business School (University of Reading, UK). She has published in Research Policy, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of International Management, International Business Review, Journal of Knowledge Management, R&D Management, Industry and Innovation, or Business Research Quarterly, among others. Within the department, she belongs to the international management research team "Growth Strategies and Internationalization" (GESCRINTER) at the University of Oviedo (since 2004 to present). Team research interests: Cooperative agreements and inter-firm strategic alliances; Internationalization of R&D activities; Organization Design and Change; International Strategy; Mergers and Acquisitions; Corporate expansion of regulated firms; Emerging market multinationals.
