Anand was educated at Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College then read law at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Anand graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB, Hons) in 1999 then gained admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2000.
Anand is a criminal law specialist with expertise in capital and general offences (eg. homicide, narcotics, traffic & sexual offences) as well as financial and technology crimes (eg. fraud, corruption, hacking and harassment). Anand has advised and represented clients during investigations and at all levels of civilian & military courts - including executive detention and extradition proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, Anand led dispute resolution and criminal litigation practices at local firms and conducted prosecutions for private individuals as well as statutory bodies including the Singapore Medical Council. With over 20 years of experience, Anand is established and recognized in this specialized field.
Anand is an adjunct Associate Professor with the NUS Faculty of Law and is a Teaching Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE) as well as an advocacy Trainer with the Part B course. Anand serves on committees of the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) and the ASEAN Law Association (Singapore) as well as statutory committees. In addition, Anand is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) as well as an Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC). Anand has contributed to publications such as “The Practice of Law” (LexisNexis) and “A Civil Practice - Good Counsel for Learned Friends” (Academy Publishing).
Anand believes in access to justice and supports pro bono initiatives - including the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences (LASCO) and the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) – as well as charitable, community and grassroots organisations. In recognition of commendable public service, Anand was conferred the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (Public Service Medal) by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 2021.
