Kenan-Flagler Business School
Allison Schlobohm teaches business communication at UNC Kenan-Flagler. Her teaching interests include oral and written communication, rhetoric, interpersonal communication and cultural diversity.
Dr. Schlobohm has experience teaching communication courses to a diverse body of undergraduate students, having taught at UNC and in the North Carolina Correctional System. She consistently challenges her students to critically engage themselves, each other and their communities as they become ever more ethical and effective communicators.
Her research engages the role of racial difference in public rhetoric. Her doctoral research on HIV prevention programming draws from multiple fields including rhetoric and cultural studies. Her dissertation examines one specific case – the SISTA intervention – in order to trace how social logics of race, gender and subjectivity influence transnational and domestic efforts to halt the spread of HIV.
Dr. Schlobohm received her PhD in Communication from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she earned her master’s degree. She graduated summa cum laude with a BA in communication studies from Truman State University.
