Alexis R. Kennedy is a third-year PhD student at the University of Colorado Denver, School of Public Affairs. She is also a part-time consultant for a public finance firm that works to help organizations use innovative finance techniques to support social services. Her dissertation is focused on how public and private partnerships, through the use of innovative finance mechanisms such as Pay for Success, affect the delivery of equitable social services to marginalized populations. Alexis has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics from Rutgers University. After graduating with her master’s degree, Alexis conducted interviews with women living in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, as part of a research article co-authored by Drs. Nidhiya Menon, Yana van der Meulen Rodgers, and herself. In addition, Alexis has conducted interviews with women living in the favelas in Brazil and professionals working in Denver in Pay for Success financing.
