Dr. Alexandria Egler received her doctorate from Fordham University's School of Religion and Religious Education. Her dissertation, Pilgrimage: Sacred Movement of Religious Revelation and Educational Transformation focuses on how pilgrimage as a religious practice can deepen one's journey into a more profound understanding of the complexity of human life and the mystery of the Divine. Dr. Egler's scholarship focuses primarily on religious pilgrimage. She also has a keen interest in the Franciscan movement with a particular attention to St. Clare and St. Francis of Assisi. She has presented her research at a number of conferences in New York and around the world.

Professor Egler has been teaching as an adjunct professor, both in the classroom and online in the Religious Studies Department at St. Francis College since 2002. Some of her courses include: Introduction to World Religions, The Spirituality of St. Francis & St. Clare of Assisi, Pilgrimage: Sacred Movement & Sacred Space, The Christian Tradition, and Women & Religion. During the summers she teaches an experiential undergraduate course on pilgrimage while walking with her students along the Camino de Santiago in Spain as well as pilgrimage classes in Italy to Assisi and Rome.

She is an adjunct faculty member at Fordham University in The Bronx, New York and a pilgrim leader for Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs; bringing students, faculty and lay pilgrims to Assisi and Rome to walk in the footsteps of St. Francis & St. Clare.

Dr. Egler serves as the Executive Director of Mission, Ministry & Interfaith Dialogue at St. Francis College with responsibilities that include infusing the Franciscan charism on campus and across the curriculum, as well as a series of academic lectures, films, discussions and prayer services that celebrate and honor the rich spirituality of all religious faiths.
