Research & Teaching Interests

Dr. Roth teaches courses in International Business Management, Cultural Aspects of International Business, Managing the Global Enterprise, International Business and Global Social Responsibility, and Executive development. Her research interests are cross-cultural management, gender studies, globalization and cultural change, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and socially responsible investments (SRI).

Industry & Academic Experience

Dr. Roth is a Lecturer and Executive Professor for International Business for the D''Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. Prior to joining Northeastern University, she worked as an internal consultant at the Deutsche Bank and as a General and Project Manager at the Institute for Corporate Cultural Affairs, the World Corporate Ethics'' Council, and the Society for European Business History in Frankfurt and in London. Through her experiences as a management consultant, especially during the merger activities of Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust, Dr. Roth became acquainted with the interrelationships of peoples of different cultures in a business environment and organized "Cultural Assessment Townhalls" and executive training that heightened employees'' awareness of diversity differences. Under several reengineering projects, she was responsible for integrating and streamlining operational support and functions of Corporate Cultural Affairs and established a data base which for the first time consolidated the bank''s worldwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Dr. Roth has also conducted fieldwork in Native American communities in Alaska and managed a development aid project in the Ecuadorian Amazon basin.

Services to the Profession

Dr. Roth is a member of the Editorial board for the Journal for East European Management Studies (JEEMS). She is also a registered Lego Serious Play (LSP) facilitator. Dr. Roth is an active member of several professional organizations, including the German Anthropological Association (DGV); the American-German Business Club (AGBC), Frankfurt; the German American Business Council (GABC), Boston; the German Scholars Organization (GSO) Boston; and Share Boston - Swiss House. Dr. Roth is an alumnus of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Fellowship in Munich.

Awards & Recognition

Winner of the 2012 European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Case Writing Award in the Euro-Mediterranean Managerial Practices and Issues Category for the case: "Launch of Durra: Women in Islamic Banking" (Ivey case). In collaboration with David T.A. Wesley.

Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Fellowship (Munich).

German Research Foundation (DFG) Research Fellow; grant for the interdepartmental examination of societal cultural changes.
